What do you think about the standard of English on YA ?

It can be pretty terrible. Look at Robert C just above me - he's capitalised nouns that don't need capitals, he has no spaces after exclamation marks and he's used multiple exclamation marks where one will suffice. The problem with Y!A is that I think people don't know how to treat it. It's not informal enough to use complete Internet slang like you'd see on MSN Messenger nor is it formal enough to type all questions and answers in completely standard English. People's experience of grammar and spelling also has a huge effect. Most people are no longer taught grammar or what to name grammatical particles, so words like concrete noun, direct object and transitive verb mean nothing to a lot of people. I had to teach myself grammar rules and grammatical names as I am studying English Language at university and have never been taught before. As for spelling, I believe that is true laziness, you're never too old to be able to spell correctly. Sorry for the essay-length answer!
