What is the difference between mitosis and miotic cell division?

mitosis is straight cell division, which produces an identical copy of the original cell. Im guessing that miotic means meiosis, which is the process consisting of 2 cell divisions, in which 4 genetically unique cells are produced. Meiosis produces gametes, or cells, such as sperm in men, while mitosis produces our regular cells. Note that in meiosis in females, only one viable gamete is produced, the ovum, as it recieves the majority of the cytoplasm during divisions. The invalid cells die. The reason for this is that the ovum requires high cytoplasm levels to sustain the rapid cell division which occurs if it is fertilized.
