Finding a guitar for band and fast!!?

ive been invited to play in a band my friend PJ got this band together with his friend...now there adding empty spaces.i dont know how to play guitar, hes offered to teach mt off his guitars in the meantime while we waait for me to buy one.on town wide yard sa;e day comes im selling a huge giant load of stuuff to raise up enuf money to buy one...im looking around everywhere to find the cheeper version of les paul but for a low price(used guitars)..is there any other solid body guitars or guitars that should last for a while?any advice?...i cud usee some tips too.
