Jim Courier mistake in commentary?

I'm watching the live coverage of Peter Luczak vs Rafael Nadal in Australia, and Jim Courier just said "the winner of this match goes on to play Argentina's Leonardo Mayer in the second round", even though Mayer hasn't even won (or began) his match against Lukas Lacko. Why do you think Courier said that? As far as I know, Lacko has not pulled out of the tournament.
